Social media seems to have taken over the world. Having followers has become a huge, really crazy, big deal. Internet celebrities carry a lot of weight with their followers. They have the ability to sway public opinion with just a word dropped here and there. Some social media personalities lead you positively to good places, while others take you to darker places away from the Light.
My toes are dipped into the social media world. I have very few social media accounts. I do have a blog and I have a few followers (I sincerely appreciate each and every one of you!) It makes me feel good to think that someone liked what I wrote enough to want to read more. I would hope that I am leading them in the right direction for the most important “follow” ever…to follow Jesus Christ.
In Proverbs 21:21, we are told that when we sincerely, deliberately seek to follow God and do the things He tells us in His Word, that they will be rewarded with life, righteousness, and honor.
What better place could you lead someone to follow than to the One who gives eternal life?
God’s Word tells me that if I truly desire to follow and honor Him with a good attitude, He will honor me. I have always told my niece, “If you honor God, He will honor you.” She has seen that play out in her life, time and time again.
My faith is strengthened when I can count on these truths during every day life when times are good and when times are challenging. God never changes and His truths are timeless. As I travel the road God has me on, I pray that I can point others to a place where they will want to follow Christ.
In the social media world and the eternal world, it matters who you follow! Jesus is the best “follow” you could ever choose.
Lord, Jesus, help me to sincerely, deliberately seek to follow God and do the things He tells me in His Word. Help me to do so with an attitude of love. Please strengthen my desire to honor God. Lead me in the way that will promote dependence on Your truths during good times and challenging times. Help me keep my eyes on You and follow You right up to heavens gates.

What is your relationship to the all-knowing God of the universe? Do you follow Him? Do you know Jesus? Do you know the peace that can come only from an intimate relationship with Him? You can know Him. Jesus Christ, God’s Son, born into human flesh, sinless, crucified and giving His life freely, buried, arisen on the third day, will come into your life and change the outcome of your eternity. You just have to be willing to believe and accept His truth.
