See Where We Should Depend on God

I wasn’t anxious yesterday. But I could feel anxiety sitting around me. I had a visit with my retina specialist. It would have been the day before, but he was in surgery all day. Because it was a work-in visit, I waited over two hours. It is interesting to sit in a waiting room and watch, and listen to other people that are waiting.

I knew I would be waiting before I got there. I was an end of the day work-in after my doctor’s post-surgery patients, regular appointments and other work-ins. I appreciated him seeing me as soon as possible, so I did not mind the wait.

Sitting there, I could see, and feel, different levels of anxiety. Some were facing vision issues for the first time. Some were experienced but still hoping for answers. And some, such as myself, were seasoned veterans, walking this roadway of vision loss with acquiescence, already knowing the routine that was to come.

Throughout my vision loss journey, I have felt God’s presence in my life. There were days I had to put myself in His hands because I did not trust my own. He has surrounded and upheld me every moment. He has put those in my life to help me, but oh how much better it is to know He is the main source of my strength.

God will allow me to face battles while walking through this world. He may not remove every battle here, but He has already secured the final victory. I believe, in that day, I will fully see victory when I find myself bodily by His side.

“6 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me? 7 The Lord taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me. 8 It is better to trust in the Lordthan to put confidence in man.”  Psalm 118:6-8 (King James Version)

Let us pray to see the places in our lives where we depend on ourselves, and realize that we should depend on Christ.
