Don’t Be Out There Looking for Trouble

I got all of my “checks” done from the previous post. I made it to the airport — and through the airport! I was a little anxious flying by myself. This was the first time that I had flown by myself since the most recent vision loss. I had an escort from the check-in counter all the way to the airplane door. I then had an escort from the airplane door to the sidewalk, where they parked me to wait for my ride. It was good. I was looking for trouble, worrying about it.

It has been such a pleasure getting to spend time with my niece and her husband. We met his mom for lunch one afternoon. We got to the area where the restaurant was a little early, so we popped in a shop to fill the time. As we walked around, someone sneezed. In the general vicinity there was a, “Bless you.” My niece’s husband said, “That was nice.”

Smack my head!

I looked at him and said, “Well at least I didn’t do this,” as I rolled my eyes to the ceiling.  He just looked at me in a “what’s that all about way.” I told him that after we had boarded the airplane and were waiting for takeoff , (with a full airplane, might I add,) someone close by sneezed.

My normal reaction, when I am not in a confined, recirculated-air, full airplane, would have been an immediate. “Bless you.” Did I do that? Nope. I rolled my eyes to the moon and thought, “Really? No!” The moment the thought went through my head, I heard this, sweet, sweet voice say, “Bless you.” Not only did she say it, but she said it with a smile in her voice.

Yes. I was back to looking for trouble, worrying about it.

God specifically tells us not to worry about things. I sort of think He means things we can not control. He will provide for our needs. I had travelled with my niece last summer. I had an escort then. But I knew the type of care I had gotten then. I should have known not to be anxious. And to the poor sneezy people out there, “I’m sorry.” I will make an effort to not believe that you are deliberately sending germs my way, and be nicer…. And try really hard not to roll my eyes when you sneeze!

God really does have us. My human self loses site of that from time to time; but I am hoping that I will see some things better as my spiritual site grows stronger.

“26 But the Comforter, even the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said unto you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.”  John 14:26-27 (American Standard Version)

Let’s look around, yes, but not for trouble. Look for God’s provision!

What is your relationship to the all-knowing God of the universe? Do you know the peace that can come only from an intimate relationship with Jesus? You can know Him.  Jesus Christ—God’s Son, born into human flesh, sinless, crucified and giving His life freely, buried, arisen on the third day—will come into your life and change the outcome of your eternity. You just have to be willing to believe and accept His truth. In addition, here is an excellent page that can give you additional information on peace with God: PeaceWithGod.net.
