When you are a caregiver for a long time, you learn to wear a lot of hats. My momma and I would laugh so many times because during the past five years, I learned so much about taking care of someone. At times I felt like a physical therapist, a nurse, a technician, a psycho analyst, and sometimes I even felt like a doctor! In the midst of all that, I picked up a lot of home remedies that we used on a daily basis.
As a caregiver, you can learn a lot of different ways to take care of things other than using prescription medication. Well, if you don’t, you should. There are so many old-time, home remedies out there that work as well as, and sometimes better than prescription remedies.
To prevent motion sickness, when my momma had to ride in the van in her wheelchair, we found some ginger chews that helped just as well as a prescribed medication would. We combined that with some pressure point bracelets that her cousin found for her. Yes, that was one of our prized fines, because mom suffered from motion, sickness quite frequently.
We also found other natural remedies for neuropathy leg pain, muscle and joint pain, even something to help her rest. For myself, I even figured out how to get my IBS – C under control just with diet. God did create a perfect world and he created perfect remedies if we’ll just take the time to search for them. It’s possible that we could find all natural remedies for most every issue that mankind faces, except for one.
God, before we even knew Him, while we were still lost in the disease of sin, proved that He loved us all the way to eternity. He gave His Son, Jesus, as the remedy for that sin so that we would not have to face the penalty which all disease eventually brings…death.
In Romans 5:7-9, the Apostle Paul shared with the church in Rome that there was not much chance that someone would die for just a righteous man. Although, there was the possibility that someone might give up their life to die for an honorable man.
He went on to lift up God, who had such love for mankind that, even before they knew Him or realized that they were sinners, He gave Christ to die for them as the remedy for sin.
Paul told the Roman believers that at that time they were made to be righteous through the blood of Christ, but when the time came, they would be saved from wrath through the sacrifice of Christ.
What is the challenge this passage presents for those that are following Christ? The challenge for us could be to never forget, and hold fast in our hearts that the solution, the remedy, for mankind’s sin is the sacrifice of Christ, and being able to clearly express it to those that desperately need to hear it.
How can we apply this to our lives? We do, truly, need to know how to share the message of Christ with all mankind. We should commit to memory the basics of how “God granted his love to us, even though we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” God‘s love is not just a soft glow within our hearts, He actually put action behind His promise and showed us that He loves us by giving the sacrifice of his Son. We should develop our testimony to include how God did this for each of us.
What does this mean to my faith? My faith is strengthened when I take into consideration that when I joined myself with Christ, God filled me with the same Spirit that was used to raise Christ from the dead. This power helps me get through each day.
Lord, Your Grace is such an amazing gift. Thank You for thinking of me before I had any thought that I needed You. My days are brighter because of the Spirit within me. You have provided the perfect remedy to the disease of sin…the sacrifice of Christ Jesus. Thank you!
