Good grief! Tax documents are coming in. That is actually not a really big deal for me, but it is the act of getting them done and in the mail that stresses me out a little bit. I don’t know why. It probably shouldn’t, because my taxes are very simple. I can use a 1040 form and I’m done. I don’t have a lot, but I have enough. My God has always seen to it that I have been taken care of.
There have been times when I barely had two coins to rub together. There were the really slim times when mom and dad helped out so I could get by! Then I had times when things were good, and I had times when things were really good, when I could be the one helping out. God has blessed me and taken care of me in more ways than I could write in one blog post. He has provided for me throughout my whole life…in more ways than just financially.
The next few months are going to be a new level of counting on God’s provision. Things are definitely different financially in 2026 than they were in 2025. The thing that remains the same, my constant in life, is my God and my complete confidence in His care for me. I have no doubt that He will provide for every need I have. I would hope that I could have the confidence of the Apostle Paul in Philippians 4:19 as I move forward.
In the first eighteen verses of Philippians Chapter four, Paul shares that believers are to love, encourage and support each other in thankfulness and joy. In addition, he acknowledged the Philippians believers for their generosity.
Paul closes out his letter to the Philippians with these last five verses, 4:19-23. He assures the Philippian believers that God will surely supply all their needs, not by any earthly wealth, but according to His riches in glory, by Christ Jesus. He shared praise to God our Father…forever and ever…amen!
Paul sent greetings to all the saints in Christ Jesus. All of those that were with him sent their greeting also. All of the believers that surrounded Paul there in prison send their greetings. This included even those in the household of Caesar, who had come to know Christ through their interaction with Paul.
He closed the letter to the Philippians by sending them the blessing of the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ to be with each of them. Amen!
What is the challenge within this passage for those that have surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ? We live in a broken world and much of the time it is difficult to see through to the next day. I believe the biggest challenge could be believing deep into the core of our being, our heart, that God will surely supply all our needs, not by any earthly wealth, or anything we could accomplish, but according to His riches in glory, through Christ Jesus.
How can we apply this to our lives? The first thing we should probably do is make sure we are right within our relationship with Christ. Revive. Revival! Renewal of our relationship with our Creator, our Creator who has riches that we could never even begin to fathom—physical riches, spiritual riches, emotional riches, relational riches, healing riches, abundant riches…and on and on. Then we need to seek to serve Him and serve others.
What does this mean to my faith? I have seen it so many times throughout my life, the way that God has led, guided, protected and provided for me. So His provision does not surprise me. My faith is strengthened and I am thankful to read in His Word that He will surely supply all my needs according to His riches in glory, through Christ Jesus. My praise is to God my Father…forever and ever…amen!
Lord, I am so thankful that You choose me to be part of Your family. As my Father I realize that there will be moments when I am asking, “When?” or “Why?” I am confident that even though Your timing may not be what I always want, through Your limitless, eternal riches, You will always provide an anything and everything I need to make it home to You. Allow Your Spirit that lives within me to guide me in the way that will bring You honor and praise in every area of my life until I see my “forever and ever…amen!”
